How much does managed IT support cost in South Africa?

Managed IT support typically ranges from R500 to R1,000+ per user per month, depending on the level of service. Basic Support (R500–R700) is remote helpdesk and patch management. Standard Support (R700–R1,000) adds proactive maintenance and Microsoft 365 administration. Premium Support (R1,000+) adds strategic IT planning and dedicated account management. All prices are per user, per month, exclusive of VAT.

How does Microsoft 365 licensing work with TechCloud?

Microsoft 365 licences are purchased directly from Microsoft, not through us. That gives you full control of the subscription and the best published Microsoft pricing. We help you choose the right plan mix, set up licensing, and administer it day-to-day as part of your support package.

What is the difference between per-user and per-device pricing?

Per-user pricing charges a fixed monthly fee per person, regardless of how many devices they use. A staff member with a laptop, phone, and tablet counts as one user. Per-device pricing charges per piece of equipment. For cloud-first businesses using Microsoft 365, per-user pricing is almost always the better fit because support scales with your headcount, not your hardware count. All TechCloud plans use per-user pricing.

What is included in the monthly support package?

All plans include remote helpdesk support, daily endpoint security checks during business hours, and patch management. Standard and Premium plans add proactive system maintenance, full Microsoft 365 administration, backup health reviews, and regular security reviews. Premium adds dedicated account management, quarterly business reviews, and IT strategy planning.

How does TechCloud deliver support remotely?

We deploy a lightweight Syncro RMM agent on your computers that monitors system health, pushes updates, and lets us proactively identify issues. When hands-on support is needed, we connect securely using ConnectWise ScreenConnect — all sessions are encrypted, require your consent, and are logged. Your team reaches us via WhatsApp, email, or phone during business hours.

Can TechCloud migrate my email to Microsoft 365?

Yes. We handle the full migration from your existing email provider (IMAP, Gmail, Yahoo, or older Exchange) to Microsoft 365 Exchange Online. This includes domain verification, DNS configuration, mailbox migration, and security setup. Most migrations complete overnight with minimal disruption to your team.

What about staff using their own devices (BYOD)?

Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes Microsoft Intune, which lets us secure and manage personal devices accessing your company data without taking over the device. Staff keep their phones private; your business data stays protected. We help configure BYOD policies that match your risk appetite.

What are the ad-hoc / break-fix support rates?

If you prefer pay-as-you-go support rather than a monthly package: R850 per hour during business hours, R1,500 per hour after hours. Note: managed support on a monthly plan is almost always more cost-effective than ad-hoc — one bad month of break-fix issues can cost more than six months of managed support.

Which Microsoft 365 plan do I need?

For most small businesses, Microsoft 365 Business Standard (~R219/user/month) is the right choice — it includes desktop Office apps, email, Teams, and 1TB cloud storage. Business Premium (~R400/user/month) adds advanced security including Microsoft Defender and Intune for BYOD management. We help you pick the right mix per person — not everyone needs the same licence.

How do I pay for TechCloud services?

Monthly support is billed on the 1st of each month via invoice. Payment can be made by EFT or debit order. One-off onboarding work is invoiced on completion of each task or phase. Microsoft 365 licences are billed separately by Microsoft directly to you — not through us.
