Power Protection for Your Office Network
Whether during load shedding or an unexpected power outage, your network equipment needs to stay on. Even if your laptops run on battery, they cannot reach Teams, OneDrive, or your VoIP system if the network equipment has no power. A UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for your network cabinet is a standard part of any properly designed office setup.
What to protect and how TechCloud sizes the UPS:
- Fibre box and router. These draw very little power (typically under 30W combined). Even a small UPS keeps them running for several hours during an outage, meaning your internet stays up as long as your ISP's infrastructure has power.
- Network switch and access points. A PoE switch that powers two to three access points draws significantly more than the fibre box and router alone. TechCloud sizes the UPS to cover the combined load of all your network equipment, not just the router. Do you install fibre lines?
